You can use them as part of an Easter centerpiece, small decor accents, or even as a playful addition to gift wrapping. They’re versatile and make a lovely way to bring a natural vibe indoors.
DIY Willow Twig Decor
Creating these willow twigs is easy and quick! You’ll just need a few everyday crafting materials: small pom-poms, wire, and floral tape. By shaping the wire, adding the pom-poms, and wrapping floristic tape around to create the stem, you can craft little willow buds that look realistic. Combine them into branches of any length and even decorate them with a satin ribbon for a polished and festive touch.

Required Materials
- Small pompons (approximately 1 cm in diameter) — preferably in a light yellow shade.
- Bead wire (around 12 cm for each twig).
- Dark brown floristic tape.
Important Notes
- Twigs can be made in varying sizes—either small or large—depending on your desired project.
- Before using the floristic tape, it needs to be stretched for smoother application.
- The pompons will be shaped into elongated buds by scrolling and squeezing during the process.
Detailed Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Preparing the Wire
- Cut a piece of wire about 12 cm long.
- Fold the wire in half and make a small loop at the folded end.
- Level the edges of the wire so that they align neatly.
Step 2: Adding the Pompon
- Take a pompon and string it onto the wire (via the loop).
- Make a puncture in the center of the pompon with the wire, ensuring it is securely attached.
Step 3: Preparing the Floristic Tape
- Cut a small piece of floristic tape.
- To ensure the tape is thinner and smoother, cut the tape in half lengthwise.
Step 4: Fixing the Tape to the Wire
- Place the floristic tape between the two edges of the wire (just below the pompon).
- Twist the wire tightly to secure the pompon in place.
- While twisting, scroll and squeeze the pompon to elongate its shape and form a small bud.
Step 5: Wrapping the Stem
- Trim off any shorter edges of the floristic tape to clean up the design.
- Use the longer piece of floristic tape to wrap the wire leg tightly.
- Stretch the floristic tape beforehand for smoother wrapping.
Step 6: Final Assembly
- Repeat these steps to create multiple buds.
- Assemble the buds into a twig of the desired length.
- Optionally:
- Combine several twigs into one branch for a fuller effect.
- Decorate with a bow made from satin ribbon for added flair.
Final Note
The willow twig is now complete, ready to be used for Easter decor or other purposes. You can customize its appearance by adjusting the length, number of branches, or decorations.
