Required Materials:

- Cricut Machine: To cut the cardstock layers.
- Cardstock: Different colors as per the design:
- White

- Yellow

- Gray
- 3D Foam Squares: To create dimension between layers.
- Glue: Recommended options:
- Collall Glue (strong solvent glue, less tendency to wrinkle cardstock).
- Nuvo Glue (features a fine tip for precision application).
- Cricut Design Space (software).
- Scissors (optional): To cut larger foam squares into smaller pieces if needed.
Important Notes:
- File Preparation: The SVG comes in a zipped folder. Make sure to unzip it before uploading it to Cricut Design Space.
- Layer Alignment: Use the feathers, beak, and star shapes as alignment guides during assembly.
- Using Foam Squares: Foam squares create a 3D effect. Use scissors to cut down large squares if needed for smaller areas.
- Optional Adjustments: You can combine or rearrange layers on your cutting mats in Cricut Design Space to reduce the number of cardstock sheets used.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Part 1: Downloading and Uploading the SVG File
- Download the SVG file from any website.
- If using the YouTube description link, click the link to go straight to the download page.
- Unzip the folder on your computer. Make sure to extract the files to a known location.
- Open Cricut Design Space and start a New Project.
- Click Upload → Upload Image.
- Browse and select the SVG file (ensure you select the unzipped “SVG” file, not PNG or other file types).
- Drag and drop the SVG into Cricut Design Space. Layers should appear stacked on top of each other.
- If layers appear side by side, cancel and reselect the correct file.
Part 2: Resizing the Design
- Once the file is uploaded, add it to your Canvas.
- Adjust the size by ensuring the “Padlock” icon (next to width/height) is locked.
- Change either the width or height, and the design will scale proportionally.
- Example: Set the width to 7.5 inches.
Part 3: Preparing the Design for Cutting
- Click Make It to separate the different colors by layers.
- Set your paper size (e.g., A4) for cutting:
- Adjust or rearrange individual layers to fit your paper better by using:
- Three dots → Move Object → Choose the same color as the rest → Drag and rotate to fit all pieces onto a single sheet if possible.
- Ensure no overlapping pieces to avoid cutting errors.

- Click Continue to connect to your Cricut machine. Follow on-screen instructions to cut out the pieces.
Part 4: Assembling the Layers
- Lay all cardstock pieces on top of each other in order. Verify all cut pieces are present before attaching them together.
- Start from the bottom layer and work upwards:
- Base Flag (White and Red):
- Glue the red stripes onto the white base layer using glue.
- Ensure no gaps or misalignment.
- Eagle Solid Layer:
- Use foam squares to attach the eagle’s solid layer (cut foam squares into smaller pieces if needed).
- Eagle Detail Layer:
- Glue or foam (as preferred) the detailed eagle layer on top.
- Flag Blue Area with Stars:
- Glue the blue starry rectangle at the top corner of the flag.
- Base Flag (White and Red):
- Eagle Features (Yellow, White, Black, Gray):
- Yellow Eye Layer:
- Attach the layer with foam squares for dimension.
- Big White Piece (Body Detail):
- Glue this layer on top of the yellow.
- Align using feather details.
- Black and Gray Pieces (Body Shadows):
- Glue the black detailing pieces, followed by the gray shadows.
- Be careful with glue placement to avoid overspill.
- Beak:
- Start with the solid yellow layer (foam squares for a pop-out effect).
- Add the detailed yellow layer on top using glue.
- Yellow Eye Layer:
- Final Steps: Ensure all layers are properly aligned. Press gently to secure all foam squares and glue.
Tips & Final Notes
- Avoid overlapping your pieces while cutting in Cricut Design Space; this will prevent improper cuts.
- Test glue on an extra piece of cardstock to see if it wrinkles or discolors the paper.
- Handle foam squares carefully to avoid tearing delicate designs, especially with detailed layers like the eagle feathers.
